Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Annual Gala

Wilkes & McHugh is a proud sponsor the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society annual fundraising event, which helps support local blood cancer patients and their families, as well as provides funding for research. In 2016 alone, LLS provided more than $4 million for co-pay assistance for thousands of blood cancer patients in Florida and more than $6 million to local institutions, such as the University of Florida, for research.

According to the LLS, every three minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer, and leukemia is the No. 1 cancer taking the lives of children. Nearly 40 percent of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA between 2000 and 2015 were first approved for blood cancer patients.
