The Half Dozen Donut Run
Wilkes & Associates will sponsor The Half Dozen Donut Run, an event that features 10K and 5K races to raise awareness of apraxia. It is a neurological condition where the person afflicted can find it difficult to make certain motor movements even though their muscles are normal. In apraxia of speech, a person finds it difficult to move his or her mouth and tongue to speak. Those competing in the 10K Donut Challenge will run the first 5K, stop to eat a half dozen donuts, and then finish the final 5K. For more information or to register, email email@example.com.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Apraxia Kids, a non-profit organization that works to ensure children with childhood apraxia of speech have access to the best support system so they have the opportunity to develop speech and optimal communication skills.
